Michael Howell
Multi-exit founder & operator.
Michael Howell is a Seattle-based multi-exit founder, operator, and builder with over two decades of experience scaling technology companies from early-stage ideas to successful acquisitions.
Michael co-founded Dolly, the leading moving and delivery marketplace, in 2014, growing it from a scrappy concept into a platform that has helped millions of customers across the country. The company raised over $20M from top-tier investors including Maveron, WTI, and Unlock Ventures, before being acquired by Updater in 2021 and subsequently by IKEA/Taskrabbit in 2024. Following the acquisition, Michael served as SVP of Moving & Delivery at Taskrabbit, leading the business unit's integration as IKEA's primary store delivery provider.
Prior to Dolly, Michael was a co-founder and SVP at Wetpaint, a pioneering social publishing platform that grew to over 20 million monthly unique visitors and was acquired by Viggle in 2013. He began his career as a management consultant at Lake Partners Strategy Consultants, where he honed his expertise in data-driven strategy and financial analysis.
Powered by a passion for solving real problems through technology and a maniacal focus on the customer, Michael brings hard-won insights from building, scaling, and exiting multiple ventures — making him a uniquely valuable voice for founders at every stage.
